MBL UC208 Insert Ball Bearing

MBL UC208 Insert Ball Bearing units are typically used with take-up frames in tape-controlled systems. The unit consists of an insert bearing based on a sealed deep groove ball bearing mounted in a grey cast iron housing. Two set screws are used to lock the inner ring, which makes it easy to mount the unit onto the shaft. Units with designation suffix /H feature a 120° angle of separation between the set screws that contributes to a higher stability and a better load balance.

The alternating rotation of the take-up frame has been designed and optimized for long service life, low noise levels and vibration, and low friction. The service life of an insert ball bearing unit is affected by variable parameters such as speed, load, lubrication and shaft deflection. However, the general rule is that the service life is directly related to environmental factors such as temperature and humidity.

There are two ways to mount the unit: either by using the inbuilt flange or by using threaded holes in the inner ring. The housing accommodates the inner ring, which is extended on both sides and has two set screws installed to lock it during mounting. Take-up ball bearing units are often used in paper printing machines.
